A Mess Of
Pottage
October 22,
2005
Did anyone
check to see if the Constitution gives the Federal
government the authority to tell the states how to run
their elections? Let's see, mmm. The 14th and 15th
Amendments say we can't discriminate against voters. The
19th adds sex to the list. The 24th forbids requiring
any tax for voting. The 26th says we have to let
18-year-olds vote. mmmm. Nope, nothing giving the Feds
the authority to mandate voting systems. The Help
America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002 is unconstitutional, and
should be ignored.
Sherrie
Swenson is violating her oath to obey the Constitution
when she follows it. Utah needs a Governor who will read
the Constitution and then hold up the Tenth Amendment in
the face of this Federal tyranny.
Are we so bad off that we are willing to sell our
birthright for a mess of pottage?
Here's just one more reason why the Utah voters should
have elected me in 2004. Well, maybe I'll give them
another chance in 2008.
